SummaryWe are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Deputy Head of Fuel reprocessing and manufacturing Unit to support the management of multidisciplinary R&D activities in a fast-paced, innovation-driven and international setting. You will report to the Head of Fuel reprocessing and manufacturing Unit, and work closely with him and the other unit heads as well as the Chief Technical Officer. You will oversee research and experiments design, execution, technical reporting and internal coordination as well as people management. This role bridges operational management and scientific leadership, making it ideal for a candidate with both technical expertise and project coordination capabilities. About usTransmutex is a Geneva-based start-up founded in 2019. We aim at reinventing nuclear energy by using an accelerator-driven system (ADS) optimize the transmutation of long-lived nuclear waste. The innovative combination of particle accelerators and fuel, based on existing long-lived radioactive waste, will let us develop energy process that will be intrinsically safe, will reduce the stockpile of long-lived waste, is resistant proliferation, and will be cost competitive. Main responsibilities: Fuel reprocessing and manufacturing design-      Design, testing and deployment of the fuel cycle considering different fuel options (MOX, metallic, nitride, CERMET, and others); -      Manage the fuel cycle in close collaboration with other units (particularly digital infrastructure, accelerator, transmutation reactor, safety, licensing and civil engineering) as well as with our industrial and academic partners and suppliers; -      Define and realize the technological interventions of the fuel cycle (structure, process improvement, efficiency, etc); -      Supervise the design, construction, and deployment of the pyroprocessing facility for the plant; -      Ability and readiness to work and support our staff working in glove boxes and hot cells for fuel testing and reprocessing experimentsSafety, compliance and licensing-      Manage the fuel licensing process, particularly for the Th/U fuel cycle; -      Guarantee the realization of the fuel cycle in the respect of quality and cost objectives; -      Ensure research processes follow regulatory, ethical, and data protection standards (e.g. ISO, NRC).-      Oversee implementation of experimental procedures, data management practices, and safety protocols.-      Ensure the application of the norms in matter of emergency, workers health, hygiene of the job environment, environmental protection and ecology. -      Monitor lab safety, radiation protection procedures (where applicable), and quality assurance practices.Team and resources management-      Assist the Head of Unit in coordinating and prioritizing work planning, budget and resources. This includes:o   Financial review of work plans, supplier terms reviewo   Team management, guidance, work planning, recruiting and onboarding, oversee training and development actions for the team.o   Review of nuclear safety analysis-      Stand in for the Head of Unit when necessary in leadership meetings or external engagements.-      Coordinate with other unit heads and transversal units (systems engineering, nuclear safety, quality and insurance) to ensure implementation of company-wide procedures. Qualifications and professional achievements·       Master’s degree in nuclear engineering chemistry, physics, or in a closely related field.·       8+ years’ experience in the radiochemistry of nuclear fuel spent in the nuclear sector of which minimum 5 years of managerial/technical coordination experience in similar roles for nuclear in multinational companies or public/private research institutions.·       Excellent knowledge in the radiochemistry of nuclear fuel; ·       Deep knowledge in the design and fabrication of nuclear fuels·       Knowledge on the field of reprocessing and electrochemical separation of transuranic isotopes in molten salt·       Prior team management experience, ideally in a multicultural and industrial setting·       Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, strong strategic thinking and diplomatic skills·       Fluency in English and German, knowledge of French is an asset; Terms And ConditionsStart date:          As soon as possible and no later than Q2 2026Location:            Vernier, GE, SwitzerlandContract:            Full-time, permanent employment contractPackage:             We offer competitive remuneration and social security, accident/disability insurance and pension plans; one day per week work from home, as well as five weeks paid vacation.Recruitment process:One to two technical interview.s with the Hiring manager and other Transmutex team members; Interview with HR for retained candidates, final interview with Management for shortlisted candidates.\n\n
