As a Java Lead Developer at Julius Baer, you will have the opportunity to work on challenging projects, develop your skills, and grow professionally. The role drives collaboration, transparency, and agility across multi location teams and stakeholders to enhance overall delivery performance. The ideal candidate for this senior role combines facilitation skills, organisational awareness and a strong technical background. YOUR CHALLENGE Provide technical leadership and drive solution design decisions Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and provide effort estimates for technical solutions using agile sizing techniques Design and development of complex functionality for the banks Pricing Portal in the form of secure, scalable backend services Collaborate in agile sprints (planning, grooming, retrospectives) within cross-functional teams Mentor junior developers and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions Delegate tasks, monitor progress, and support capacity planning for the team Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding and security guidelines Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents; perform root cause analysis Optimise application performance, database interactions, and observability (logging, metrics, tracing) Lead by example in a cross-functional and multi-location team and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions Drive technical discussions and contribute to the evolution of our software engineering practices, with a focus on back-end development and a keen interest in front-end integration YOUR PROFILE Proven track record of delivering complex software projects using Java and related technologies, with a focus on back-end development Experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Jakarta EE and RESTful APIs incl. documentation Strong affinity for front-end development, with experience in technologies such as React, JavaScript, and Typescript Excellent understanding of software design patterns, principles, and best practices, particularly in the context of back-end development Experience with DevOps concepts, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), automated testing, and monitoring Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and develop creative solutions Proficiency with agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps) Banking, in particular Pricing & Revenue experience would be a huge plus Master's or bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience Readiness and motivation to learn about the Pricing solution A self-motivated, communicative personality with great interest in new challenges with independent and responsible working attitude Excellent facilitation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills Analytical mindset with attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement High emotional intelligence and ability to influence without authority Good communicator in English, German is nice to have We are looking forward to receiving your full job application through our online application tool.
