We do this to enable our customers to make the most of their time spent pursuing their passions.  We are looking for a  Team Leader Software Engineering  to join our  Garmin Labs  team in our  Cluj-Napoca office.   Garmin Labs is our  R&D department  where we focus on  innovation. We employ  new technologies, as well as existing ones, to develop new products and open new markets, with the purpose of bringing value to our customers through innovative solutions.  As a  Team Leader, you will be directing and coordinating software development activities within the Garmin Labs team. You will directly supervise mobile software engineers, oversee training and career development for all your team members and address team problems.  Here are a few  recent projects  that our team turned from ideas into reality:  Garmin Blaze - equine wellness system   Garmin Clipboard - team coaching app   Home Tee Hero - golf simulator     Essential job functions:   Responsible for driving, coordinating, supervising and facilitating the work processes of mobile engineering teams.  Active leading or delegation of the solution creation, effort estimation, development, and project implementation.   Create, maintain, improve and provide needed resources to enable team members to do their work.  Ensure efficient inter-team communication and disseminate information coming from outside the group.  Demonstrate a broad understanding of Garmin’s business model, including operations, production, sales and marketing. Technical skills:  Strong background in native mobile development with experience in iOS, Android, or both platforms.  Proficiency in Swift UI, UIKit for iOS development, or Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, for Android development.  5+ years of technical work experience.  Experience with releasing and managing applications on the App Store and/or Google Play.  Perform and plan major version upgrades of software and hardware while complying with change control best practices.  Collaborate and add value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions.  Create and maintain programs and scripts to automate routine tasks where possible.  Ability to prioritize among many competing business initiatives.  Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem-solving techniques.  BSc in Computer Science, IT or similar.  Leadership skills:  Minimum 2-3 years of experience in leading teams of 4+ people.  Proven experience in performance evaluation of team members.  Ability to set SMART objectives for each team member that align with the team and organizational goals.  Demonstrate mentoring experience in helping team members tailor their careers.  Focus on efficient time and resource management.  Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.  Skilled in feedback delivery for team members.  Able to negotiate different aspects of product delivery with team members and stakeholders.  Excellent English speaking and writing skills.  Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes.  Solid abilities in organizing, planning, and prioritizing teamwork.  Adaptable, proactive and passionate about technology & innovation.  Would be a plus:  Experience with other technology stacks beyond native mobile development (iOS/Android).  Experience with the Bluetooth/BLE stack.  Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
