The Director , Global Compliance  Systems & AI Enablement   is a senior leader responsible for advancing   the effectiveness,   efficiency, and scalability   of the company’s ethics and compliance program   through the responsible and innovative use of technology and AI .   The role   leads   the strategy, development, and execution of compliance-specific systems and AI-enabled capabilities that enhance the effectiveness   and impact of core ethics and compliance activities.   This leader will partner closely with colleagues across legal and compliance, and cross-functional stakeholders, to   identify   opportunities, shape priorities, and deliver innovative, responsible, and scalable systems, including human-in-the-loop agentic AI workflows and Copilot Studio-based agentic applications .    The ideal candidate combines   s trong ethics and compliance domain understanding,   deep technical fluency,   and   program   leadership,   with   the ability to inspire organization-wide engagement around the innovative and responsible use of AI in compliance operations .    The role reports to the Vice President, Global Compliance   Operations .     Key Responsibilities :   Define and drive the strategic roadmap for   ethics and   compliance systems , data,   and AI-enabled capabilities and automation  that   support   core ethics and compliance   program elements,   including policies, training,   transparency, risk   detection   and mitigation, among others .   Lead the creation, roll-out, and continuous improvement of AI-enabled tools   that support effective and improved compliance decision-making and execution , including:   Compliance-specific   Copilot Studio agents   Human-in-the-loop   workflows   that reinforce judgment, consistency, and defensibility   Automated   compliance   content generation, risk detection, and operational dashboards   Efficiency-enhancing capabilities that support compliance work globally   Partner with Global Compliance Operations and Office of Ethics and Compliance leadership subject matter experts to translate business and compliance needs into system requirements, prototypes, and production-ready solutions   Ensure tools are designed with robust governance, transparency, and auditability   Evaluate emerging technologies and within responsible-use frameworks   identify   opportunities to deliver measurable impact on organizational risk, ethical culture, and employee engagement.    Oversee the lifecycle management of ethics and compliance systems and platforms, ensuring   they are fit-for-purpose for compliance operations,   integrat ed appropriately ,   supported by high-quality   data , usability, and sustainab le over time   Implement structured feedback loops to   identify   enhancements,   optimize   workflows, and drive adoption   Maintain strong cross-functional interfaces across colleagues across the business, the Office of Ethics and Compliance, Legal, IT, HR, and other key stakeholders , with compliance serving as the primary business owner and decision-maker for priorities and outcomes .   Build awareness, understanding, and confidence in the use of AI across the global ethics and compliance community and business partners   Lead effective change management programs, including communications, training, demonstrations, and adoption metrics   Act as a key spokesperson and educator on the   responsible and ethical use of   AI in compliance, cultivating a culture of curiosity and innovation   balanced with sound risk management   Act as a strategic advisor, thought leader, and spokesperson on matters relating to the use of AI in compliance-related systems and platforms   Coach and influence team members to build digital and AI fluency   Drive alignment across regional and functional teams on technology priorities and shared standards   Stay   current on   developments and   industry trends   on the   innovative use of   AI and   technology    Champion inclusion in all aspects of   systems and AI enablement        Oversee   budget, resource allocation, and financial planning for   the Systems and AI Enablement   function , including investments in AI technologies.   Represent the company in external forums, regulatory meetings, and industry groups,   as an ethics and compliance leader,   building strategic partnerships and advocating for best practices.   Drive change management initiatives to support adoption of new   AI-enabled practices and processes .   Minimum Education & Experience: 12 years of relevant compliance experience with a bachelor's degree in related field or 10 years of experience with a master's degree. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
