Title and Summary Lead BizOps Engineer The Mastercard BizOps team is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who thrives on solving complex problems, building resilient CI/CD pipelines, and driving Mastercard’s evolution toward modern DevOps practices. Mission BizOps serves as the production readiness steward for our platforms. We work closely with engineering teams to design, build, deploy, and operate high quality technology services. As a Site Reliability Engineer within BizOps, you will ensure: • Availability, resiliency, and performance of critical systems • Proactive monitoring, alerting, and self healing capabilities • Automated deployments, repeatable processes, and reduced manual toil • Operational excellence embedded throughout the software delivery lifecycle BizOps accelerates Mastercard’s DevOps journey by advocating for standards, enabling consistent operating models, and providing continuous feedback to improve product quality and customer experience. We drive this mission through: • Strong triage, incident management, and root-cause analysis grounded in understanding business impact • A shift left mindset, partnering early in the development lifecycle to prevent issues before they reach production • Rigorous risk management and compliance oversight across all environments • Streamlining and standardizing support processes to provide clear, centralized interactions for internal and external partners • Bridging product and operational priorities to ensure smooth delivery, reliable platforms, and delighted customers Ultimately, BizOps aligns customer experience, product goals, and operational excellence. We continuously evaluate our run state and provide actionable feedback to enhance the reliability, performance, and usability of the applications we support. Responsibilities • Drive and enhance the full lifecycle of application services from design and architecture through deployment, operations, and continuous improvement. • Analyze platform ITSM activities to identify operational gaps, resiliency risks, and opportunities for engineering teams to improve reliability. • Partner with development and architecture teams during pre production phases, providing guidance on system design, capacity planning, scalability, and launch readiness. • Maintain production services by actively monitoring availability, latency, performance, and overall system health. • Scale and evolve systems sustainably through automation, continuous process improvement, and engineering best practices. • Lead and support CI/CD pipelines, ensuring high quality software promotion through automated validation, operational gating, and DevOps excellence. • Champion a culture of sustainable incident response, including blameless postmortems and data driven remediation. • Troubleshoot production events holistically by correlating issues across the full technology stack to reduce mean time to recover (MTTR). • Collaborate effectively with a globally distributed team across multiple time zones and engineering hubs. • Mentor and coach junior engineers, promoting shared learning and technical growth across the team. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics, mathematics), or equivalent practical experience. • Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, scripting, pipeline management, and software design. • Demonstrated analytical and systematic problem solving skills with strong communication, ownership, and follow through. • Ability to debug and optimize systems, automate repeatable tasks, and improve operational efficiency. • Experience working with diverse stakeholders and making timely decisions in high pressure environments. • Proficiency in one or more of the following: Python, Go, Bash. • Interest and experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large scale distributed systems. • Proven ability to work across development, operations, and product organizations to prioritize needs, build strong relationships, and drive automation. • Hands on experience with industry standard DevOps and observability tools such as Git/Bitbucket, Jenkins/XLR, Chef, Splunk, Dynatrace. • Experience creating and managing efficient CI/CD pipelines that deliver high quality releases with minimal manual intervention.
