Technical Manager - Villa LOCATION Abu Dhabi, UAE THE ROLE Reporting to the Senior Design Manager, the Technical Manager will be required to provide input to the senior management on the technical aspects of design delivery related matters and be fully responsible for the successful delivery of their assigned services and/or project component, for the duration of the Services. The Technical Manager will work in coordination with the project management team to ensure the project's design and construction stage objectives are met. PROJECT DESCRIPTION KBR has been appointed under a framework agreement with the largest developer in Abu Dhabi to oversee a diverse portfolio of projects that contribute to Abu Dhabi's growth. This includes developing essential infrastructure such as transportation networks and utilities, alongside public spaces and involving also the shaping of thriving communities by managing the development of residential housing projects and ensuring the quality of new educational facilities, together with the development of mosques and maximizing urban space through infill development projects. This PMC role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on Abu Dhabi's built environment. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Support all aspects of the villa design production process, by managing the Consultants and Contractors, to ensure the overall design is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of program’s strategic objectives Assist the management team in the preparation of a detailed project plan, as part of the Project Management Plan, for the villa design and construction phases of the program Provide technical input day-to-day on villa design activities and actively participate in the design team meetings Carry out design review and provide comments for resolution. Ensure that all design related project KPIs, targets, directions and instructions are communicated to all relevant project stakeholders in a clear and timely manner Provide status reporting regarding design milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders Act as an internal quality control check for the design documentation Ensure that the technical aspects of designs are compliant to current UAE legislation, standards and codes of practice where appropriate Manage technical issues and risks to mitigate impact to baseline program Resolve technical challenges during the design and construction stages, by finding innovative solutions whilst controlling the costs Managing technical changes to the project scope in alignment with the established change management procedures Capture and share lessons learned to improve projects across the portfolio Effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, within the project team, the Client organisation, and across other projects EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Has a proven track record in design and construction of villas, and a deep knowledge of technical standards, in relation to villa projects. Oversees technical quality assessments and maintains comprehensive project documentation in accordance with established procedures. Confirms that the technical solution meets client requirements and expectations. Works closely with project team to validate project methodologies and review project outputs BSc, engineering, architecture or equivalent. Minimum of 15 years overall experience Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role (villas) Minimum of 5 years working in Abu Dhabi Excellent report writing and communication skills User of MS Office Exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders A high standard of spoken and written English, Arabic speaking advantageous.
