Position Summary: As a Equipment Engineer, you will provide technical leadership in R&D laboratories sustaining efforts. You will define and perform preventive maintenance on optical, mechanical, electrical and fluidics systems. You will work to improve equipment uptime and reliability. You will also apply organic chemistry principles in troubleshooting lab equipment process issues. All About You Responsibilities: Define and perform preventive maintenance on optical, mechanical, electrical and fluidics systems Use mechanical, optical, fluidics and organic chemistry knowledge to troubleshoot process and equipment issues, as they arise Perform basic computer/software troubleshooting Develop, write and update manuals and procedures Train other engineers and lab personnel on procedure, process and equipment changes Work in a team environment to improve equipment reliability and uptime Construct and execute controlled experiments (including DOE's) to address equipment-related yield and quality issues and drives implementation of solutions in a production environment to meet production goals Develop or source alternative replacement for obsoleted parts and execute changes through change management All listed tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional tasks and responsibilities. Requirements: Experience in Semiconductor industry or experience with laboratory equipment and Fabrication best practices is advantageous Excellent familiarity with standard laboratory practices Experience with opto/mechanical/electrical system, fluidics and organic chemistry processes (preferably DNA-related) is preferred Competencies: Strong demonstrated mechanical aptitude is required Experience in writing procedures and training is required Basic computer troubleshooting skills are required Good inter-departmental communication skills and documentation skills are required Demonstrated ability to work independently is required Experience with Statistical Process Control, JMP and DOE techniques is a plus Familiarity in operating and troubleshooting Illumina sequencers is a plus All listed requirements are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional tasks and responsibilities. Education: BSc/B.
