Job Description: The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As an Application Engineer in the Automotive Aftermarket Division, you will leverage your technical expertise and customer-centric approach to demonstrate the value of innovative solutions. You will work closely with customers, sales teams, and product development teams to drive productivity, profitability, and application excellence across the automotive ecosystem. Key Responsibilities Customer Value Creation & Application Support Demonstrate the value of products, processes, and solutions to improve customer productivity and profitability Deliver hands-on product demonstrations and technical training for customers, distributors, and internal teams Support sales teams and end-users with application setup, troubleshooting, and optimization Customer Engagement & Relationship Building Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, key accounts, dealerships (AOEM and non-AOEM), and distributor partners Drive customer intimacy through regular technical interactions, plant visits, and application reviews Technical Expertise & Innovation Develop, negotiate, and validate customer-specific technical test specifications Conduct field testing, product trials, and new product evaluations Benchmark products against competitors and provide actionable insights Identify customer needs and feed inputs into new product development and cost reduction programs Training & Content Development Create and deliver technical collateral, training modules, and application guides Conduct large group training sessions (internal and external stakeholders) Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Collaborate with product development teams to support innovation and cost optimization initiatives Gather market intelligence and customer insights to drive continuous product and process improvement Champion a culture of innovation by identifying new application opportunities Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Mechanical or Automotive Engineering from a recognized institution Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience Proficiency in MS Office and digital tools Fluency in Hindi and English (spoken and written) Strong hands-on demonstration skills in collision repair and car care applications Preferred Qualifications Experience in automotive aftermarket, collision repair, automotive paint industry, or OEM manufacturing Experience in application engineering, technical service, technical training, or technical sales Familiarity with vehicle-level testing, calibration, or diagnostic equipment Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and collaborative environment Key Competencies Customer Focus & Technical Credibility Application & Product Expertise Problem Solving & Analytical Thinking Communication & Influencing Skills Collaboration & Teamwork Innovation & Continuous Improvement Why Join Us Work with cutting-edge automotive solutions and technologies Collaborate with global teams and diverse customers Be part of an innovation-driven culture that values ideas and impact Learn more about 3M’s creative solutions to the world’s problems at www.3M.com or on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn @3M.
