About Pierce, an Oshkosh company At Pierce Manufacturing, we build trucks that protect people and communities around the world. To our team, there is no room for anything less than providing the absolute best. Since 1913, building truck bodies on Model T Ford chassis in an old converted church has evolved to creating highly customized, carefully designed and engineering pumpers, aerials, tankers and rescue units that have no equal. Today, you'll find more than 30,000 Pierce apparatuses on the road that are making a difference in people's lives, every day. To us, every step in the process of building our trucks is personal. From innovation and expertise, to the customization and service. Our trucks are designed to perform under the toughest conditions. At Pierce Manufacturing, we build custom fire trucks that serve communities across the country. As a Production Manager, you won’t just manage production process, you’ll lead a critical final assembly line responsible for delivering high-quality, life-saving apparatus on time and on budget. This is a hands-on, floor-focused leadership role where visibility, urgency, and problem-solving drive daily success. YOUR IMPACT These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned:   • Lead 2nd shift final assembly (Pumper line) production to ensure daily and weekly delivery commitments are achieved in alignment with the master production schedule. • Maintain a strong, visible presence on the production floor — actively monitoring workflow, addressing bottlenecks, and ensuring safety, quality, and throughput standards are met. • Track, analyze, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost; drive corrective actions when targets are at risk. • Manage and communicate production performance through visual management boards and shift reporting. • Identify and remove production barriers in real time, including part shortages, staffing gaps, quality concerns, or process inefficiencies. • Partner cross-functionally with supply chain, materials, engineering, and other facilities to expedite critical or “hot” parts and prevent line disruptions. • Directly lead and develop Production Supervisors (currently two, with potential to expand), fostering accountability, engagement, and strong floor leadership. • Facilitate continuous improvement discussions focused on productivity, throughput, and cost reduction. • Ensure all apparatus meet or exceed Pierce Manufacturing quality standards prior to completion. • Support development and implementation of improved manufacturing methods and processes to reduce cost and improve efficiency. • Manage departmental budgets, approve expenditures, and maintain cost control within operational targets. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Six (6) or more years of related manufacturing or production leadership experience. STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. Experience managing production schedules and executing against a master build schedule in a complex assembly environment. Demonstrated ability to implement and sustain lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. Heavy equipment, automotive, or complex vehicle manufacturing experience at the management level. Experience leading front-line supervisors in a fast-paced, hands-on production environment.
