This is a unique opportunity for someone passionate about advertising technologies, user experience, and data-driven decision-making to help shape the future of ad delivery and monetization across CNN’s digital platforms. As an Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a team of 6 engineers focused on building and optimizing ad experiences that balance revenue goals with seamless user engagement. You’ll work closely with cross-functional partners in product, design, and data to deliver high-impact solutions that power CNN’s advertising ecosystem. Your New Role... Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers focused on ad technologies and user experience. Drive the technical strategy and execution for ad integrations, including display, video, and programmatic ads. Collaborate with stakeholders to define and prioritize work that aligns with business goals and user needs. Guide the team through technical planning, discovery, and delivery of scalable ad solutions. Provide technical leadership through code reviews, architectural guidance, and hands-on contributions when needed. Ensure high standards of quality, performance, and reliability in all ad-related features and systems. Your Role Accountabilities... Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience. Proven experience managing and growing engineering teams (5+ years preferred). Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams. Experience hiring, onboarding, and mentoring engineers. Demonstrated success in delivering performant, scalable consumer-facing applications. Platform Experience Full-stack development experience with JavaScript, modern frameworks, HTML/CSS, and responsive design; Python experience is a plus. Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms for scalable infrastructure. Familiarity with A/B testing and consumer testing platforms to optimize ad performance and user experience. Knowledge of operational tools such as PagerDuty and experience managing an on-call team. Ad Tech Experience- Deep understanding of ad development and integration on publisher websites for display and video ad formats, using Supply-Side Platforms (SSPs), such as Google Ad Manager and Freewheel, and other 3rd party ad technology, business development and affiliate marketing solutions. Nice to Haves... Proficiency with ad testing tools and industry best practices for validation and optimization. Strong grasp of ad performance metrics, real-time monitoring, and analytics interpretation. Experience developing scalable solutions for high-traffic, content-rich websites. Quick adaptability to emerging technologies, frameworks, and evolving ad tech ecosystems. A user-first mindset with a passion for balancing monetization strategies and seamless user experience. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $175,700.00 - $326,300.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
