About the Role The Innovation Commercialisation Analyst supports the Innovation Commercialisation Manager by delivering data-driven insights, commercial analysis, and strategic modelling. The role transforms raw data into meaningful commercial intelligence, evaluates opportunities across the innovation pipeline, and supports effective decision‑making from early‑stage exploration through to launch and scale. Role Responsibilities Commercial & Strategic Analysis Analyse market, customer, finance, and operational data to inform innovation and commercialisation decisions. Develop and validate commercial assumptions, scenarios, and business cases for new and existing innovation initiatives. Support opportunity sizing based on various data points and modeling Contribute to strategic thinking around go‑to‑market plans and scaling pathways. Data & Insights Collect, structure, and interpret data from diverse internal and external sources. Build and maintain analytical models, dashboards, and performance reports. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities, translating complex information into clear, actionable insights. Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across all reporting. Innovation Support Partner with Marketing, Finance, Technology, Legal, and other functions to support innovation workstreams. Assist with the evaluation of pilots, proofs of concept, and post‑launch performance. Contribute to portfolio tracking and reporting across the innovation ecosystem. Stakeholder Engagement Prepare high‑quality presentations and insights for senior leaders. Communicate findings effectively, balancing analytical depth with strategic perspective. Serve as a trusted analytical partner to the Innovation Commercialisation Manager. Governance & Compliance Ensure analyses adhere to internal governance standards, financial controls, and risk frameworks. Apply relevant regulatory and market considerations, particularly those applicable in South Africa. Experience / skills required: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related discipline. 2–5 years’ experience in an analyst role (commercial, strategy, finance, or analytics preferred). Experience supporting business cases, strategic planning, or innovation projects is advantageous. Key Skills Technical & Analytical Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability. Ability to develop assumptions, scenarios, and models using limited or imperfect data. Advanced Excel proficiency; experience with data visualisation tools is beneficial. Strong commercial acumen and financial literacy. Strategic Thinking Ability to connect data insights to broader business strategy. Comfortable working in ambiguity and evolving environments. Curious, hypothesis‑driven approach to problem‑solving. Behavioural Competencies High attention to detail with the ability to maintain strategic perspective. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams. Results‑driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
