New hires will start in late July or early August after they sign their offer letter.   Please note: In most cases, we assign candidates to a school site location. At times, however, SpEd Assistants are assigned to the School Success Team pool are not assigned to a permanent school location and will provide services at various assigned school sites throughout the school year.     \n What You'll Do<ul> <li>Provide support to students and student(s) of disability</li> <li>Implement comprehensive positive behavioral support plans and effective behavior management strategies; deliver instruction; participate as a member of the educational team, and hold design and implement all components of the student’s individual program</li> <li>Supporting with student health needs including mobility, including diapering and toileting if applicable </li> <li>Uphold and enforce school rules and policies</li> <li>Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the teacher to provide access to class activities</li> <li>Supervise students throughout the school day in classrooms, during educational activities, and during recess and lunch</li> <li>Assist teacher in classroom instruction and behavior support</li> <li>Implement Behavior Support Plan</li> <li>Implement behavior strategies</li> <li>Assist in managing the behavior of students and crisis intervention, including restraint</li> <li>Ability to work with students having special needs and/or aggressive behaviors (i.e. biting, kicking, hitting, emotional outbursts, etc.)</li> <li>Appropriately manage student behavior and guide student toward more acceptable social behaviors Model appropriate behavioral interventions</li> <li>Confer with teacher(s) on a regular basis to assist in evaluation student(s) progress and/or implementing IEP goals and objectives</li> <li>Assist with student assessments, as appropriate</li> <li>Participate in IEP meetings, as appropriate</li> <li>Maintain appropriate documentation, records, and reports</li> <li>Participate in developing data collection systems, and monitor data collection to ensure the success of academic and behavior plans</li> <li>Maintain confidentiality of students and families as mandated by district, state and federal regulations</li> <li>Participate in school and regional trainings, in-services and meetings</li> <li>Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and parents</li> <li>Communicate effectively in oral and written form</li> <li>Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education</li> </ul> You'll Be Qualified If You Have<ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree highly preferred</li> <li>1-year experience working with students with special needs in a school setting</li> <li>Experience working in an educational setting implementing behavioral intervention for students with complex and/or severe behavioral problems.</li> <li>Certification in NCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention), desired</li> <li>First aid and CPR, desired</li> <li>Knowledge of positive behavioral interventions and applied behavior analysis (ABA)</li> <li>Knowledge of behavioral management strategies and techniques related to pupils with special needs</li> </ul> Joining KIPP SoCal Means the Following<ul> <li>Working at an organization committed to the hard work necessary to ensure education is for liberation </li> <li>Spending time with students and families in the best communities of LA, Compton, and San Diego</li> <li>Support and care from fellow regional team members</li> <li>Ongoing professional development and coaching from manager </li> </ul> Working with Us Means the Following Perks<ul> <li>Full-time position offered a rate of $22/hour (non-negotiable)</li> <li>Very competitive compensation package inclusive of a generous benefits package</li> <li>100% of healthcare premium costs covered by employer, dependents added at 50% of the cost</li> <li>Employer-paid KIPP SoCal life insurance</li> <li>401(k) plan with up to 6% match by KIPP SoCal</li> <li>Voluntary Benefits (Pet Insurance, Supplemental Life, Accident, Short Term Disability, etc.)</li> <li>Generous time off program includes 22 holidays and sick leave</li> <li>Other great benefits (Flexible spending account, EAP, tuition reimbursement for dependents, etc.)</li> </ul> \nKIPP SoCal Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, veteran status, disability, sexual orientation/gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
