This includes inspecting all areas of the home—such as foundations, basements, crawlspaces, and mechanical systems—to ensure proper installation and operation. Based on program needs and workload, you may also support the broader field auditing team. The inspector is responsible for accurately documenting and verifying installed equipment, including photographing installations and confirming systems are functioning as intended. When inspections identify deficiencies or non-compliance, you will collaborate closely with the program team to define, track, and verify appropriate corrective actions. The ideal candidate will bring experience in energy auditing, building science, home inspections or related fields, along with established relationships within housing, rebate/incentive programs, and community development. Strong leadership skills, a focus on team building and customer service, and knowledge of relevant standards and practices, particularly BPI certifications, are essential. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities will set you apart. Your oversight will extend to residential weatherization, HVAC, and water heating installation inspections, as you review QA/QC findings to ensure program integrity. Working with partners to identify and implement effective solutions based on audit findings and client feedback will be key to your success. Additionally, you will collaborate cross-functionally with various teams to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Resource Innovations’ program solutions. Duties and Responsibilities Perform residential site visits to verify HVAC systems, insulation, windows, lighting, appliances, and building envelope. Use diagnostic tools such as blower doors, combustion analyzers, and infrared cameras to assess air leakage and energy performance. Collect and analyze utility data, homeowner usage patterns, and building specifications. Utilize provided software tools to input all above data and prioritize recommendations for energy-saving improvements. Perform post-installation inspections to verify completion and effectiveness of energy upgrades. Ensure compliance with applicable standards and program requirements. Collaborate with contractors, utility representatives, and program managers as needed. Maintain accurate records and submit documentation in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Must be located in greater Evansville, Indianapolis, or Ft. Wayne, Indiana; or near Louisville, KY High school diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in energy, construction, environmental science, or related field preferred. Ability to move up and down ladders and in attic spaces Outdoor conditions, non-conditioned buildings and normal office settings 2+ years’ experience in a field services/quality control and quality assurance role, or consulting, energy efficiency or utility experience highly desired Certification as a BPI Building Analyst, RESNET HERS Rater, or equivalent; or ability to acquire within first 60 days of employment Knowledge of building science, construction and technical expertise is required Must be a US Citizen Ability to travel 25% to 75% of the time (limited overnight travel) Experience with SnuggPro a plus Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.
