Job Description: Position Summary: To support the Mission of The Salvation Army Hope Acres through provision of professional counselling services for our Live-in Concurrent Disorder Treatment Program clients in accordance with Government contractual agreements and Salvation Army Standards.  To Function responsibly as a member of the Centre's program delivery team.  Hope Acres is a 30 Bed Live in Treatment Program for men, located in Glencairn, ON. Accountabilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for serving men with concurrent disorders at our Live in Treatment Program in Glencairn, Ontario: Primary Counselor role Group Facilitation Teaching Classes One-on-one Counseling Development of treatment plans based on client-centered recovery goals Maintain client files according to agency standards Liaison with outside agencies as required Crisis/Conflict Intervention Discharge Planning After-care Follow-up Team Consultation and Decision-Making Case Management skills Participation in individual and team clinical supervision Work one evening per week Weekend work is required Reliable transportation to work On Call responsibilities approximately one week per month Other duties as assigned                                                  Education and Experience Qualifications: Minimum undergraduate degree from a recognized institution (in one of the human services professions) Registration in a professional college an asset Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered. Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the substance use/concurrent disorder sector Knowledge of evidence-based concurrent disorder counseling interventions / treatment models, including CBT, Relapse Prevention and Trauma Informed Practice Cultural awareness practices Professional documentation according to agency and regulatory college standards The ability to work individually and as part of a team The ability to work collaboratively with community partners Competence with data management systems, particularly EMHware Knowledge and experience in substance abuse counseling, group counseling and case management Awareness and experience with marginalized and vulnerable populations Basic First Aid/CPR Certification an asset Proficient in English language, second language an asset Complete certification as a “Trained Person” for the Hope Acres Private Water System as required under MOE Regulation, and ability to conduct routine water testing. Successful candidate must provide: an original copy of a current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), and the results of the check must be acceptable to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion. The cost of the VSC is borne by the employee. CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: Senior Management, Director of Client Services, Program Coordinator, counselors & staff within agency, outside agencies MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY : Reports directly to: Program Coordinator Direct reports for this position: None, may oversee student placements WORKING CONDITIONS:   Office setting, long periods of being seated, using computer, phone systems Little to no travel The above responsibilities must be performed in keeping with The Salvation Army’s Mission, Vision and Values, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $58,531.20 to $73,174.40 with a maximum of $87,817.60. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
