Job DescriptionAbout the RoleLocation: Fully remote within the continental United States.The Insurance GTM team is helping our customers and prospects solve critical problems within their Rating, Underwriting and Claims workflows. Our Solutions Engineering team serves as the technical counterparts to the Account Executives. Through this partnership, this role will help to understand a customer’s current challenges and desired outcomes through deep discovery and technical understanding. The Pre-Sales Data Scientist will help insurance companies unlock the value of Nearmap's AI-driven data within their pricing, underwriting, modeling, and regulatory workflows through direct engagement with Nearmap customers as they scope, execute and analyze large scale data tests to measure this value. This role’s key responsibility will be aligning customer data tests to the Nearmap suite of data and software products. You will work closely with customers and prospects to develop success criteria, desired outcomes, and evaluation criteria, this role requires someone with deep technical understanding of data science applications in insurance as well as strong communication skills for client-facing actuarial consultation. This role will also have dotted line reporting to our Insurance AI team to continue the development and enhancements of our modelling for rating, pricing, underwriting and state filings. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of cutting-edge AI and insurance transformation: Customer impact: Direct influence on carrier decisions worth millions in premiums Breadth of exposure: Working across multiple carriers and use cases rather than deep in one company Consulting-style variety: New problems, new datasets, new stakeholders Technical growth: Exposure to cutting-edge geospatial AI applications in insurance Key ResponsibilitiesPre-Sale Support: Work closely with prospects & customers to understand their data needs and desired outcomes. Data Test/POC: Develop and enhance Nearmap’s current POC process to align on requirements, outcomes and success criteria Actuarial Support: Serve as technical liaison to actuaries, data scientists, and pricing teams at insurance companies, supporting their testing, integration, and use of Nearmap data in pricing, underwriting, filings, and retro tests. Regulatory support: support customers with their regulatory needs related to using Nearmap AI in rating including drafting objection responses and exhibits documenting Nearmap AI methodology. Validation: Conduct detailed validation studies, sensitivity analyses, and scenario testing to demonstrate the accuracy, reliability, and business value of Nearmap models across insurance use cases. Develop customer-facing materials, presentations, and quantitative analyses to help insurers understand and incorporate Nearmap data into their actuarial and pricing workflows. Cultivate deep knowledge of Nearmap’s data and leverage it to support continual improvement of our models.  Compliance with Nearmap values, policies and standards, and ensure compliance with all local statutory requirements. Complies with all local legislative requirements. Adheres to company guidelines and the corporate Code of Conduct. Where appropriate keeps up to date with legislative requirements. Acts in an ethical way when dealing with company assets and other people.
