Job DescriptionThe Bureau of Child Care ensures that child care services in New York City operate in compliance with the New York City Health Code and New York State Social Service regulations and are licensed or permitted as required by law. The Bureau routinely monitors child care programs to protect the health and safety of children while in the child care environment and actively works to improve and expand access to high quality programs which support early childhood development and learning. The Bureau seeks to hire two Community Associates for its licensing activities. - Assist childcare providers by performing liaison functions between City and State agencies, community groups, parents and the general public.- Assist licensed providers in interpreting and complying with applicable State and City Child Care Regulations.- Instruct the public on how to make a complaint about a childcare program that appears unsafe, unhealthy or operating illegally.- Coordinate outreach and provide technical assistance to childcare providers to assist with attaining or renewing a license to provide services.- Perform related case management and office support work in the review of required documentation from childcare providers.- Conduct presentations and workshops to community-based organizations, government agencies and the general public to promote the importance of selecting licensed Child Care options.- Selected candidates will be expected to travel to Albany, NY for training and elsewhere throughout the State for an annual NYS Regulator’s meeting.
