The Problems You’ll Solve: The Policy Advisor on the Environmental Justice team will lead efforts to engage New York City residents, climate and environmental justice community-based organizations (CBOs), and environmental advocates in supporting MOCEJ's mission and initiatives. Reporting to the Deputy Director, Environmental Justice, this role requires a strategic thinker with strong relationship-building skills and a track record of successful engagement with the nonprofit and public sectors.Responsibilities will include:- Develop and implement strategies to engage New Yorkers, CBOs, and environmental advocates in supporting MOCEJ's mission and initiatives, including for the City’s first Environmental Justice Plan (EJNYC Plan).- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the nonprofit sector, particularly CBOs focused on climate and environmental justice. - Manage the Environmental Justice Advisory Board engagement and communications sub-working group. - Identify opportunities for collaboration with CBOs (such as members of the Environmental Justice Advisory Board, the Climate Justice Hub, and other EJ coalitions) on climate and environmental justice policies.- Support the Environmental Justice team with updates to the EJNYC Mapping Tool and support the development and maintenance of high-quality data products. - Support the Environmental Justice team with the EJNYC planning and implementation efforts once the final EJNYC Plan is released. - Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and other communications materials for internal and external stakeholders.- Represent MOCEJ at meetings, conferences, and other events, and promote the organization's priorities and initiatives to private sector partners.- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement initiatives that leverage CBO resources and expertise to advance MOCEJ's mission.- Track and report on progress towards MOCEJ’s community engagement goals, and recommend adjustments to strategies as needed.- Stay abreast of emerging trends and developments in the EJ advocacy space related to climate and environmental issues. About You:- You have experience in engaging with the nonprofit sector on issues related to climate and environmental justice.- You have strong intercultural competence and experience working with diverse communities.- You have strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with stakeholders at all levels and socioeconomic backgrounds.- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills. - You have strong research and analytical skills. - You have familiarity with New York City's governmental structure and policy context.Minimum Required Qualifications:- Bachelor’s Degree required.- 3+ years of experience.RESEARCH PROJECTS COOR(MA)-MGR - 0527A
