Job DescriptionAbout the RoleThe UK water sector is entering a period of unprecedented investment and transformation. As Egis accelerates the growth of its Water Business in the UK, we are building a high-performing Mechanical Engineering team to help shape this next chapter.We are inviting expressions of interest from talented mechanical engineers at all levels, from Consultant through to Associate Director, who want to play a meaningful role in delivering major water and wastewater programmes. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute to technically robust, sustainable and innovative treatment solutions across nationally significant projects.This is a rare opportunity to join at a key stage of our UK growth journey, helping to establish, shape and expand a Mechanical engineering capability built on Egis’ global infrastructure expertise and long-term commitment to the sector.Key ResponsibilitiesContribute/lead mechanical design packages, covering feasibility, optioneering, concept, outline and detailed design across major UK water/wastewater programmes (e.g. AMP8, WINEP, SROs, etc).Lead and deliver mechanical design for water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects, including development of P&IDs, equipment sizing calculations, specifications, datasheets, schedules and procurement documentation for assets such as pumps, tanks, pipework, lifting systems and associated plant.Attending site visits for data acquisition and meeting site operatorsDiscussions and liaison with technology providers and vendorsContribute to design risk management activities (e.g. HAZOP/SWIFT) and provide mechanical input to commissioning strategies and performance testing where required.Provide design support during delivery phases, including reviewing contractor submissions, answering design queries, and supporting handover/ commissioning activities when required.Contribute to business development and work winning: identify opportunities, shape scopes, contribute to bids.Contribute to recruitment, team development, mentoring and skills development efforts.
