Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Junior Sous Chef to join the team at the iconic Natural History Museum.Our food offer at the Natural History Museum ranges from busy cafes serving freshly made sandwiches and barista coffee, to family friendly restaurant with pizzas, burgers, and seasonal dishes. In addition, we cater for a variety of casual events, including museum sleepovers.We offer:Salary: £36,000- £38,000 per annumShifts: Mainly daytime, 5 days out of 7 (including weekends)Contract: Full Time, PermanentAbout the Junior Sous Chef role:Reporting directly with the Head Chef and deputising in their absenceWorking with the Head Chef and Group Executive Chef to develop new menu ideas and ways to improve our offeringsEnsuring the food quality is at its highest standard at all timesEnsure the performance of the chef team is of the highest standard by motivating and leading by exampleOverseeing stock levels and making key decisions about stock control in conjunction with the Head ChefEnsure all food safety and health and safety procedures are maintained to the highest standardThe ideal candidate will have:Experience within a high volume kitchensStrong communication and leadership skills Multi-site experience An understanding of events, canapes, bowl food and banquetingAn eye for detail, and the ability to produce food to a high standardThe ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectivelyExcellent organisational and time management skillsA thorough understanding of food safety and hygiene regulation
