Job DescriptionJob Purpose: Function as the key technical expert for customers and sales channel for test sockets/contactors/interposers, thermal and non-thermal lids/actuators as well as support plates. Focus on increasing both the quantity and quality of our SEMI sales to customers through technical expertise and assistance in current sales efforts, as well as innovation for new product development. Regularly visit customers and conducts product application training and support for internal personnel and customers.Responsibilities: Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of tasks in several areas of applications engineering:Accompany sales staff on visits to customer sites to identify and understand customer needsDocument all customer mechanical, electrical, and thermal requirements for each projectQualify and Communicate product opportunitiesCollaborate with Engineering to drive “designs wins” based on best technical solutionReview assembly and sub-assembly drawings to ensure solution meets customer requirementsFacilitating corporate standards and cost efficienciesDriving growth within our product segment(s)Maintain and communicate understanding of technical trends driving our markets and competition as well as track customer roadmapsHelp to define new products and new applicationsDevelop detailed specifications and application notes for new products; contribute content to technical collateral materialsMaintain customer file sets which include status report, design rules, cross references, and roadmap for use by global FAE’s and other departmentsSupport field issues and repairs themselves, with local machine shop or factoryInitiate Eng Change Requests to address new customer standards or resolve issuesEducate sales staff or any other internal/external personnel about both new and existing productsCompliance and participation in all Smiths Interconnect EHS programs, policies, procedures and training requirements
