Job DescriptionThe purpose of this role is to prepare and analyse customer food samples keeping in mind efficiency, quality and accuracy standards as required by the company. This is a full time role working 39 hours a week, Monday to Thursday 11:45 - 20:00 and Friday 11:30 - 20:00. First two weeks shift pattern will be Monday to Friday 10:00 - 18:15. Become competent in the preparation of food samples for analysis.Become competent in the laboratory work practices and requirements that facilitate analysis.Become familiar with all relevant laboratory test methods and procedures i.e. SOP’s.Complete all documentation on time, accurately and legibly.Check weights and temperatures in line with company procedures.Keep training sheets up to date and initiate training where possible when able to do so.Keep the laboratory area clean and tidy.Ensure that the laboratory is stocked with pipettes, autoclave bags etc.Clean laboratory equipment as required, including fridges, incubators water baths etc.Ensure that all sanitiser bottles and beakers are filled and changed regularly and the correct control labels are attached to them.Ensure that there are no reagents or media available in the laboratory that have past their expiry date.Ensure that all documentation relating to customer samples is filed.Provide cover for other members of staff as required and participating in the Weekend Rota.Ensure Compliance to the 17025 standard at all times by adhering to the in house quality procedures provided.Adhere to all company standards in the area of safety, housekeeping and quality, notifying a Senior Technician or Laboratory Manager of any discrepancies. Be flexible to work in any area of the business as is required.
