Job DescriptionThe Pipeline Commercialization Strategy (PCS) organization leads the development of the strategic direction of AbbVie’s pipeline, disease area strategies and external innovation strategies.The Director, Pipeline Commercial Strategy is responsible for driving and enhancing how PCS delivers against its remit of increasing the value of the pipeline portfolio and preparing the late-stage pipeline for launch and affiliate transitions. This role will work across Immunology PCS on strategic initiatives related to optimizing and innovating in commercialization. The core focus will be on special strategic initiatives that optimize commercialization across Immunology PCS (~60%). The Director also holds responsibility for end-to-end stewardship of Gastro pipeline commercialization strategy (~40%), including driving strategy development for Gastro pipeline assets from early-stage (Phase 1–3) and leading the transition to affiliates for launch. This role reports to the Vice President, PCS, Immunology, with a dotted line to the Gastro Lead for PCS, and is based in Lake County, IL.Key Responsibilities:Lead the development of the Immunology long-term strategic plans in close partnership with Immunology PCS leadership, ensure optimized and consistent approaches across PCS, and shape an enterprise-wide vision for long-term pipeline growth and market leadership.Lead the establishment of best-in-class processes, operating models, and governance structures for PCS Immunology to enhance the effectiveness and impact with core cross stakeholders (Asset Strategy Team, Disease Strategy Teams, and other core cross functional partners).Lead the development of clear objectives and measurable outcomes for key strategic initiatives, ensuring each strategic project is guided by specific goals and supported by robust metrics to track impact and drive continuous improvement.Elevate management approaches across the extended PCS Immunology organization, ensuring robust and timely engagement on pipeline strategy with Commercial, Medical Affairs, and Market Access partners, to maximize pipeline portfolio strength and strategic impact.Serve as PCS Director for the Gastro pipeline, bringing a strong commercial lens to the creation and shaping of strategic direction—including identifying unmet needs, evaluating competitive landscape dynamics, defining target patient segments, forecasting scenario value, and proactively defining risks and opportunities for the Gastro portfolio strategy from Phase 1–3.Provide strategic commercial perspectives for external business development (BD) opportunities to expand the Gastro pipeline.Build strong relationships with internal and external partners, including Gastro external experts and leverage expertise/insights to strengthen the value proposition of Gastro pipeline assets.Coordinate cross-functional engagement, partnering with R&D, Regulatory, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Business Development, Finance, and Affiliates (US and IMCO) to shape and align Gastro pipeline strategy.Ensure end-to-end stewardship of Gastro pipeline commercialization across all development phases (Phase 1–3), guaranteeing seamless transition of strategy from development to launch and affiliate handoff.
