Job DescriptionCanam currently has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time, professional Civil, Structural, Building Engineer at our steel joist and deck manufacturing facility in Mississauga.Essential Functions:Design joist members and welds in compliance with applicable codes and standards. (CISC,CSSBI, SJI, AISC,CWB, etc).Provide engineering support to the drafting team and other departments.Provide technical assistance to current and prospective customers.  Provide engineering expertise to outside sales offices and potential clients in the usage of joists and related products.Prepare work schedules and expedite workflow in order to meet customer and shop work schedules.  Review and interpret contract documents to ensure all specifications are met during fabrication.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fabrication and site problems.Check special designs, review drafting and shop orders, and sign-off on projects.Develop repair procedures and create sketches for misfabrication or site-specific conditions.Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.Promote a positive work environment through adherence to company policies and effective communication and professional interactions with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.Meet departmental objectives as set in conjunction with the Engineering Manager. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
