Position Impact: The Field Operations Trainer is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering comprehensive training programs to field technicians, with a focus on fiber optic installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety protocols. This role ensures that all field personnel are equipped with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and compliance awareness necessary to perform their duties effectively and safely. By fostering continuous learning and development, the trainer supports operational excellence, reduces service interruptions, and contributes to the successful rollout and ongoing performance of fiber optic infrastructure.   This individual should be able to communicate and work effectively with external service representatives and internal team members who possess a wide variety of backgrounds, personalities, and communication skills. This individual should be able to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving environment while maintaining a productive professional demeanor. This individual must be capable of working independently, as well as collaboratively with other Race team members across teams and levels of our organization. Qualifications and Experience: • Eligibility for US Employment without sponsorship • Minimum of 18 years of age • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent; technical certification or combination of education and experience is required • A valid driver's license, subject to successful verification through a DMV check, is mandatory • 3+ years of hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance • Prior experience in training or mentoring field technicians is highly preferred • Proven knowledge of fiber optic network architecture, industry standards, and best practices • Designing, developing, and delivering training programs (in-person and virtual). • Experience onboarding new field employees and providing refresher training. • Coaching and mentoring skills for ongoing development • Ability to travel to multiple work sites, work overtime, weekends, holidays, or off hours as needed • Understanding of SOPs, compliance, and quality assurance standards preferred or required • Ability to assess operational gaps and tailor training accordingly • Use of field technology (e.g., tablets, mobile apps, GPS tracking systems) • Competence in using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and data tracking/reporting tools • The ability to effectively communicate in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension, as necessary for effective job performance and workplace communication • Training certifications (e.g., ATD, CPTM, or Train-the-Trainer) preferred • OSHA certification preferred; may be obtained through employer-provided training if not currently held • Proficiency in Spanish Language desirable Skills: • Proficient use of MS Office applications including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; teleconferencing applications • Functional use of common office equipment, computers, and office software • Ability to distinguish colors and audible tones Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Training and Development • Conduct hands-on and classroom-based training for new and existing field technicians covering fiber optic installation, testing, splicing, maintenance, and service drops • Facilitate learning using a variety of delivery methods, including classroom instruction, team meetings, web-based platforms, online learning, hands-on labs, and peer-to-peer coaching • Develop and maintain training materials, manuals, and standard operating procedures in alignment with current technologies and industry best practices • Provide instruction and support on fiber optic network design, configuration, safety protocols, and equipment usage • Supervise trainees during learning sessions by modeling company leadership behaviors, tracking attendance, addressing conduct, and documenting performance strengths and areas for improvement • Evaluate field technicians through assessments, observation, and real-time performance feedback • Manage all administrative aspects of training, including pre-training preparation, scheduling, recordkeeping (e.g., attendance, test scores, evaluations), and data entry related to training outcomes Field Operations Support • Serves as a technical resource during fiber optic installation and maintenance projects providing real-time troubleshooting and guidance to field technicians • Monitors work quality in the field and provide constructive feedback to ensure adherence to standards and continuous improvement • Conducts site visits to assess technician performance and support skill development in real-world conditions • Acts as a subject matter expert to update training content based on evolving business strategies job requirements and professional development needs • Participates in task forces committees and team meetings to align training and operational goals Documentation and Reporting • Maintains accurate records of training sessions, certifications, and employee progress • Reports training outcomes, field performance, and areas for improvement to management • Assists in the development of performance improvement plans based on training assessments and field evaluations Continuous Improvement • Identifies areas where additional training or skill development is needed and collaborate with management to address gaps • Stays updated on new fiber optic technologies and methods to integrate into training programs • Exhibit a commitment to continuous learning by pursuing development opportunities to strengthen expertise and core skills improving job-related knowledge and leadership capabilities seeking feedback and maintaining focus on growth • Evaluates learning effectiveness including behavior change and performance improvement on the job and quality control efforts provide feedback to learners and managers and follow up with leadership to ensure training outcomes translate to performance Equipment Operations and Site Maintenance: • Operates mechanized equipment such as a bucket truck, excavators, and trencher • Climbs poles up to 40 feet and operates in bucket trucks with 32’ plus ladders • Manages deployment and removal of traffic control devices to ensure safety in work areas on streets or roadways • Adheres to and operates within the weight capacity limits specified by manufacturers for equipment and machinery: o Bucket Truck: 350-pound manufacturers maximum load capacity o Ladders: 300-pound manufacturers maximum load capacity Vehicle Maintenance and Travel: • Maintains vehicle/equipment pre-op/post-op to be prepared to perform required duties • Maintains a clean driving record as defined by the current fleet insurance underwriter • Spends a significant portion of the workday traveling in a vehicle visiting various locations and spending time both indoors and outdoors, including businesses and/or residents depending on the nature of the job • May be required to work overtime, after hours, on weekends, for emergencies, or be on-call as needed to ensure work is completed Safety Protocols: • Adheres to safety protocols and guidelines outlined in the Race employee handbook and job description to promote a safe work environment Other duties as necessary.
