The Quality Assurance Team is a matrix organization within the Company dedicated to creating food products leading to the gold standard in plant-based proteins. They are looking for an outstanding person to join the team in our Devault, PA location as a Quality Assurance Supervisor. The Quality Assurance Supervisor plans and directs activities concerned with developing, implementing, and maintaining the development quality standards for production processes, materials, and products. This position supervises our Quality Techs to ensure that proper protocols, documentation and production and sanitation oversight are meeting Company standards. TASKS, DUTIES, & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Reviews quality records for completion, accuracy, and adherence to internal specifications . Works with team on proactively improving the Quality and food Safety program and Pilot plant production facility to meet the Company’s, customers ’, and the local State and city Health Department requirements. Be the liaison between the local Health inspectors and the plant management. Develops, implements, and maintains standards and methods for routine quality and sanitation inspections and verification. Assists the team in developing and maintaining procedures and work instructions . Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, or quality deviations related to texture, flavor, foreign material, or shelf-life stability. Collaborate with R&D, Operations, and Sanitation teams to ensure successful new product launches and process validations. Assist in the preparation and execution of regulatory, customer, and third-party audits (SQF, FDA, etc.). Creates and manages training materials associated with the Food Safety & Quality program for Quality and Sanitation Techs and trains new hires. Maintains and accounts for product and raw material Holds and disposals, including but not limited to conducting mock recall traceability exercises at a minimum of once every quarter. Assist in troubleshooting, overseeing root cause investigations, and collaborating on corrective and preventive actions for non-conformance issues . Lead and Oversees plant GMP & pest control program and actively works with pest control provider on corrective actions and investigations. Lead and oversee the plant Sanitation program by working with internal and external parties; regularly review performance results with trend analysis, root cause, corrective action as required , chemical validation, and hygienic verification . Coordinate samples for testing as needed. Any other special projects per QA Department needs. Lead, manage, and supervise employees, delegate training for all processes within the production area setting.     Provide mentorship and training to functional team members.  Accountable for developing talent through on-going performance feedback and career management coaching.  QUALIFICATIONS Education, Technical Skills, and/or Previous Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or Microbiology preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered. Thorough knowledge of  GMP, FDA/USDA, Food Safety, SOP's, and SQF Knowledge of  LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and AOAC standards desirable Minimum 2 years of QA/Food Safety experience in a food manufacturing environment; experience with plant-based or protein alternatives is a plus. Solid understanding of food safety programs including HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and allergen control. Experience with audit preparation, regulatory compliance, and customer standards. Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced production environment with varying temperature zones Other qualifications: Leadership skills focused on results, employee engagement, decision-making, and teamwork. Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus, not a requirement  Strong mathematical skills Strong PC skills, including MS Office programs; PowerPoint Presentation, Smartsheet and Tracegains Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and organizational skills. Ability to quantitatively review technical procedures and representative regulations. Capable of writing detailed reports, general day-to-day oversight, and related correspondence Effectively presenting information to groups and responding to questions from peers, supervisors, and managers is essential. Ability to multi-task and set priorities within Quality Assurance WORK ENVIRONMENT Warehouse and production manufacturing environment that includes both tempered and ambient areas.      The work environment is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.   Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Position located in a mix of production environments and requires a tolerance for consistent cold work environments (-10-40˚ F), high worker traffic, loud noises, odors, dust, and varying external temperatures.  This position will require you to visit the production floor, refrigerated and frozen storage warehouses.  Work flexible shifts as required .  Understand that overtime and occasional weekends and/or worked holidays will be required based on company needs.  **Annual salary commensurate with experience** The starting annual base pay for this role is USD $70,000. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for bonus and benefits.
