This internship is designed to give you hands-on experience with modern data technologies and real-world datasets. \n Responsibilities<ul> <li>Supporting the development and maintenance of data pipelines and workflows. </li> <li>Assisting with ingesting and transforming data from multiple sources, such as MySQL databases and real-time Kafka streams. </li> <li>Writing and improving SQL queries used for analytics and reporting. </li> <li>Attending standups, sprint planning, code reviews — the full rhythm of a data engineering team  </li> <li>Collaborating with experienced engineers to turn business needs into technical solutions. </li> <li>Asking questions, breaking things (safely), and learning how a fintech scales. </li> <li>You’ll gain exposure to modern data engineering tools and work closely with mentors who will help you grow your technical skills. </li> </ul> Requirements<ul> <li>You're studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, or something adjacent at University of Malta or MCAST. </li> <li>You're genuinely curious how real-world data systems are built — how data is collected, transformed and turned into something useful </li> <li>Good communication skills and ability to work in a team. </li> <li>Curiosity, a problem-solving mindset, and eagerness to take initiative. </li> <li>You can write some code (in any language - we care more about thinking than syntax) </li> </ul> <div>Please note that this summer internship is open to candidates who are currently pursuing their studies in Malta.</div> Nice to Have (But Not Required) <ul> <li>Interest in fintech, payments, or data-driven products. </li> <li>Foundational SQL knowledge and comfort writing queries. </li> <li>Basic Python skills or a strong willingness to develop them. </li> <li>No prior professional experience required, we value potential, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. </li> </ul> \nWhat you'll walk away with    - Real lines of code in a production fintech system  - An understanding of how data engineering teams actually work — agile, CI/CD, code reviews, the works  - A network inside a global payments company  - Honestly?
