As a Software Engineer working on platform, you'll design and build the internal backbone that makes Radical AI run: the services, frameworks, deployment primitives, developer workflows, and reliability systems that allow product engineers, scientists, and ML teams to ship faster - without breaking things. This is not a "tickets and toil" DevOps role. We're looking for a strong backend engineer who's spent years building real systems, and now wants to own the platform that makes every team faster.\n Mission<ul><li>Build and operate core platform services that power production systems</li><li>Design internal APIs, service patterns, and shared libraries that enable teams to ship quickly and safely</li><li>Own reliability in real-world environments: deployments, failures, observability, incident response, and debugging</li><li>Improve our developer experience: CI/CD, testing workflows, environment management, and self-serve tooling</li><li>Aid in production hardening: rollout strategies, safe migrations, incident playbooks, reliability testing</li><li>Service orchestration primitives: queues, schedulers, retries, idempotency, cancellations, and long-running workflows</li><li>Partner closely with backend, ML, robotics, and science teams to turn platform needs into clean abstractions</li></ul> About you<ul><li>5+ years of experience building backend systems in production environments.</li><li>Strong software engineering fundamentals (design, implementation, testing, reliability).</li><li>Fluency in at least one backend language: e.g., Python, Go, Rust, TypeScript, etc.</li><li>Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.</li><li>Comfort operating services in the real world: on-call, debugging, performance bottlenecks, failure modes.</li><li>Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI) and integrating security checks within them.</li><li>Ability to build clean abstractions that other engineers actually want to use.</li><li>Solid understanding of Linux/Unix systems administration.</li><li>Experience with monitoring, logging, and tracing tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK, etc.).</li><li>Understanding of network security concepts (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, Tailscale).</li><li>Strong ownership and bias toward action: you find the sharp edges and sand them down.</li></ul> Pluses<ul><li>Exposure to machine learning lifecycles or MLOps concepts.</li><li>Experience with distributed systems (queues, schedulers, event-driven architectures, consistency tradeoffs).</li><li>Background in scientific computing, robotics, or automation-heavy environments.</li><li>Solid understanding of security principles, practices, and common security tools (e.g., vulnerability scanners, intrusion detection systems).</li><li>Experience with security and compliance software (e.g., Drata, Apptega).</li></ul> What we offer<ul><li>A competitive compensation package also includes the best in benefits:</li><li>Medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family covered at 100%</li><li>Mental health and wellness support</li><li>Unlimited PTO and 14+ company holidays per year</li><li>401K </li><li>Work closely with a team on the cutting edge of AI research.</li><li>A mission: an opportunity to fundamentally change the way humanity makes progress through materials science discovery.</li></ul> \n<div>$200,000 - $250,000 a year</div>\nSalary Description Competitive salary + Equity + Benefits; base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
