Job description: Key Responsibilities: Compliance and Governance The incumbent will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.  Ensure compliance with engineering codes, safety standards, and relevant company procedures Coaching and Training Provide on-the-job coaching to the artisans and tradesmen according to the needs identified in the engineering department for these specialized support roles.  Use ‘On the job’ coaching as the primary method, supported by formal training modules in collaboration with the KMP Training Department Prepare training materials for the delivery of the training and coaching. Deliver structured training sessions based on identified skills gaps Technical Oversight Ability to role model good practice and create a continuous learning environment, using coaching methodologies and various instructional techniques identified via training needs assessments or observations  Champion quality and provide visible leadership ‘on-the-floor’ in Kansanshi Smelter operations  Support fault diagnosis and corrective actions to minimize downtimes through coaching Learner Engagement, Assessments and Performance Monitoring Use effective listening, assertiveness and questioning to support learners to engage with their learning plans and assessment criteria and processes  Use assessments and observations to identify skill gaps; create and deliver suitable interventions and follow-up to assess their impact  Design and complete assessments considering feedback from other FQM sites and operations using the Proficiency Framework. Act as independent assessor for other FQM operations running the proficiency framework program Identify high potential Artisans with ability and aspiration to progress to more senior roles and support their development  Record interventions, assigned actions and progress using the learning management tools provided by the company  Frequently evaluate and report on the impact and effectiveness of the ongoing initiatives; make improvements as needed  Work closely with the training department to define training needs based on completed assessments. Leadership and Culture Provide feedback on the coaching interventions, observation and results to Supervisors and Senior Supervisors on opportunities to improve the artisan skills gaps. Create a coaching culture across the organization and upskill the coaching methodologies Recognize and celebrate achievements and success in the team; provide candid feedback, engage at all levels and lead with a People First mindset  Collaborate with the supervisory staff and HR to align coaching with the organizational goals. Qualifications Full grade twelve (G12) school certificate.  Minimum of Technicians Certificate in a relevant mechanical or furnace refractory trade or equivalent.  Valid EIZ license.  All Qualifications must be certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA). Experience Coaching Experience A minimum of 5 years’ demonstrable coaching experience (or a formal coaching certification) in workforce upskilling, including deployment and execution of the upskilling programs within an organization.  Proven ability to foster a coaching culture, mentor artisans and embed a continuous learning culture. Technical and Maintenance Experience A minimum of 10-15 years’ maintenance experience in fixed plant maintenance within a mineral processing operation, with 3 – 5 years at Supervisory level. Experience in a Smelter plant will be an added advantage.  The ideal candidate will have supervisory experience in furnace refractories or other mechanical trades such as Scaffolding or lagging and cladding or boiler-making.  Ability to manage inspections and maintenance of refractory linings, or scaffolding or FRP linings and plastic welding Define & implement repair solutions around refractory works or FRP and Plastic piping and ducting networks.   Experience working for an OEM is preferred (or similar role that has given deep experience of refractory linings or scaffolding or FRP and Plastic piping and welding works)  Experience with standard maintenance reliability processes – five whys, FMECA etc.  Technical Troubleshooting – advising on complex repairs using structured troubleshooting techniques. Experience with standard reliability maintenance processes and KPIs – RCAs, MTBF, MTTR, FMECA Systems and Tools Experience with the use of a computerized maintenance management system (such as PRONTO) Solid computer skills including use of MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook), with a willingness to learn new software programs.  Experience with working with learning management systems (LMS)   Behavioural Traits Demonstrats a strong commitment for coaching and development – this role requires individuals with deep technical knowledge in mining processes and/or smelting plant equipment maintenance with the ability to transfer that knowledge effectively through on-the-job coaching and mentoring.  Consistently delivers with professionalism, honesty, and integrity, ensuring fairness and building trust across all levels of the organization.  Possess a well-developed interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Listens actively, asks insightful questions and inspires engagement from the leaners, with the ability to explain technical concepts in a non-complicated way.  Strong organizational and time management skills.  Maintains a professional approach to duties and responsibilities with the capability of making timely, rational decisions and an ability to reach or exceed goals with a strong desire to make a difference, showing initiative and deliver results in a technically challenging set-up under minimum supervision. Be resilient and adaptable when dealing with challenges and change, maintaining focus and self-control.
