This position oversees the full electric load-interconnection process, serves as the client’s primary liaison with utilities and market operators, and ensures that transmission, distribution, and power‑delivery requirements are thoroughly evaluated and optimized to support near‑ and long‑term growth.This role combines technical depth with cross-functional leadership, helping the organization navigate complex utility interfaces, assess grid readiness, develop business cases, and communicate technical considerations to non-technical stakeholders. The Electric Utility – Engineering/Technical Support professional also contributes to broader corporate initiatives—including process improvement, market assessment, power procurement strategy, and regulatory engagement—to support the expansion across diverse markets.Job Description:Key ResponsibilitiesUtility Integration & Project SupportManage the end-to-end utility load-interconnection process for all assigned development projects.Serve as the primary interface with electric utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and transmission operators, fostering strong, collaborative relationships.Review and evaluate utility system-impact studies, load-flow models, and power-delivery feasibility assessments.Oversee third-party engineering and consultant studies to ensure technical accuracy, risk mitigation, and alignment with project objectives.Support transmission planning needs by evaluating grid capacity, upgrade requirements, and long‑term infrastructure implications for new and existing sites.Strategic Decision SupportAssess new market viability from a utility and transmission-delivery perspective and provide recommendations to cross-functional leadership.Analyze utility constraints, risks, and opportunities to inform site-selection and development strategies.Communicate complex engineering concepts, utility timelines, and technical issues clearly and effectively to non-technical executives and stakeholders.Contract, Budget & Process ManagementReview, negotiate, and provide technical input on utility service agreements, interconnection contracts, and power-delivery provisions.Develop and maintain project-level utility budget forecasts, including interconnection costs, upgrades, and long-term O&M considerations.Identify and implement process improvements to optimize coordination with utilities, engineering partners, and internal teams.Corporate & Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner closely with development, engineering, supply chain, policy, energy procurement, legal, and leadership teams to advance project objectives.Contribute to corporate initiatives related to energy strategy, regulatory engagement, new market exploration, and long-term planning.Support the preparation of business cases, executive summaries, and leadership approvals related to utility strategy and project feasibility.
