Job DescriptionAs a Closure Design release Engineer, you will lead the development of critical rear-vehicle systems, ensuring they meet rigorous safety, functional, and manufacturing standards.Key Responsibilities:  Design & Development: Responsible for the engineering, design, development, timing, and release of rear body closure sheet metal (e.g., liftgates, decklids, or tailgates) and associated hinging systems.Validation: Manage the development and validation of assigned components; communicate technical product status and competitor benchmarking to management.Cross-Functional Coordination: Lead packaging coordination with adjacent departments including electromechanical (latches/cinching motors), electrical (harnessing), lighting (taillamps), and interior/exterior trim.Virtual Performance: Work closely with virtual validation groups to ensure the CAE scorecard is met and verify manufacturing feasibility.Quality Documentation: Maintain and update DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) and DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis).Supplier Management: Support and manage suppliers for quality actions and Value Optimization (VO) activities.Collaborative Alignment: Support meetings during NA work hours and collaborate with local engineering, Architecture/Vehicle Concepts, and program science teams to align iterative models with packaging and system requirements.
